In 2008, the Scottish Government set out new proposals for devolving third sector funding to local area level, through the creation of a single interface composed of the voluntary sector, volunteering sector and social enterprise sectors. This was followed by a Joint Statement on the Relationship at Local Level between Government and the Third Sector in September 2009. The Scottish Government proposes that as of March 2011 a single allocation of core funding for Third Sector support will be made to each local authority area, with responsibility for determining specific outcomes devolved locally.
The structures for Community Planning in East Lothian have recently changed, which offers the opportunity to strengthen and increase participation of the third sector in Community Planning, and ensure a stronger voice of the sector in decision-making.
The three organisations below have therefore formed VAEL to create a representative relationship between the third sector in East Lothian and the Community Planning Partnership. Further details of the aims and activities of VAEL can be found by clicking the buttons at the top of the page.
